Question by BobDobolina: Is there a kill switch or panic button that kills programs and websites while I am at work or class?
Everybody knows that the internet is growing into a huge reason why people get fire and I don't want to be one of these statistics. What program is out there if at all that does this? Thanks.

you can hold the ALT button and press F4 to close whatever window is open at the time - including internet explorer.
sitting with your thumb over the ALT key and your middle finger over the F4 key will not look very strange unless you start wildly bashing them when anyone comes near you.
there are many pieces of software that once installed on a machine can be configured to make running programs 'disappear' at the press of a button combination then reappear when a button combination is pressed again:

HOWEVER, since most 'work or class' internet connections are provided through a main server at your work or school then everything you do online is likely being logged already and there's nothing you can do to get around that.
this is *mostly* because if a staff member or pupil uses a companies computer and internet connection to commit an illegal act the workplace/school has to be able to provide log records to the police of who did it, when, and what computer they were sat at. to a lesser degree it's used to flag inapproriate use of company/school computer systems.
if this server has been configured automatically to flag certain kinds of traffic or sites - myspace, chat sites, porn, dating, instant messaging, or even if you've been on a site for longer than a set period of time - then that will appear for the computer people to take a look at along with times, dates, login names.
likewise if you're suspected of abusing the internet at work or class they can go back and check against your login name with dates, times, which websites were visited etc.
if you could see what my company logs through it's internet connection you would cringe: every single packet is logged and they can generate graphs, pie charts, logs, anything from a 'top 20' of usernames that use the internet most, down to how many people accessed ebay on a particular hour of a particular day - any information you could imagine can be generated into a report in seconds.
you no longer just have to worry about who's looking over your shoulder in respect to getting caught, computers can pick out abuse of computer services automatically.
there is a simple yet obvious answer that people who want to use the internet for non-work related use do NOT like to hear, and that is that you should assume your employers are monitoring everything you do on your computer, and do nothing you wouldn't be prepared for your employer to see - if one day your employer calls you into the office to discuss the word-for-word transcript of an online chat you had using their computer and connection, things could get embarrassing.
